Hallway update complete!

With a 2 year old in the house, projects are tricky to fit in. Nap time and after bedtime (which keeps going later). The busy season at work, July-September, really killed the little bit of energy I did have for projects, but we have continued to soldier on this fall with some upgrades.

The upstairs part of the hallway finally got painted. This took awhile because the room has no windows, so working after bedtime was out. (Our doors are about 1.5 inched off the ground. Cut to accommodate the thick shag carpet that must have been in the house at one time. So the hall light shines into the toddler's room at night.) Also, there are 5 doorways of trim that needed to be sanded down and painted with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of white semi-gloss. Then there was the cutting in around all of the previously referenced doorways. Mom to the rescue!

I managed to get all of the trim done before mom's visit, so while she was in town, I took full advantage and shanghaied her into painting the hallway!

Here are the results. As you might recall, there were the stain glass hanging lights in the hall that were too low for Jeff to walk under without hitting his head. The trim was all the natural ranch casing. I'm not usually a painted wood fan, as evidenced by our previous house, but this wood trim is nothing special or fancy. The white makes such a big difference. The ceilings feel taller and the windowless hall feels so much brighter.
