When the dishwasher begins to fight back

When we bought the house, we were able to purchase it with the appliances. Go us! Until we realized that by our standards some of the appliances we not very functional. We quickly replaced the greasy, permanently dirty, 30+ year old stove and the fridge with melted popsicle adhered to the freezer. The dishwasher was used when the previous owners installed it, but seemed to function OK.

Fast forward a few months. We started to notice dark scratches on our beautiful dishes. Upon closer inspection, what appeared to be some missing tines to hold dished in place, we actually places where the plastic coating has deteriorated and rusted metal was exposed and ready to do damage. Ugh! We started loading the dish washer to avoid the trouble spots, which seemed to be many, leaving us only able to load half of the dishwasher.

We budgeted our funds and got on the lookout for some deals. Home Depot sent us a coupon and we took it as a sign. We purchased a new dishwasher and scheduled the installation. Unfortunately, when the guys came to deliver and install it, we were missing the separate dish washer water shut off valve. The men wouldn't install the appliance because our plumbing did not meet the criteria. Now, we had a new dishwasher in a box in the middle of our kitchen:

Not really working for us. We had to schedule a plumber to come in and do the installation. They came later in the week and got down to business.

The new GE dishwasher was installed and a couple of hours (thanks to some screwy old house complications). Feel free to ooo and ahh.

It is soooooo much quieter and it actually gets the food off of the dishes!

I think we love the clean light the most, to let us know if the dishes have been washed or not! It's the little things!
