Dated Kitchens
(Yes that is tweedy wallpaper with tea pots on it)
Old Lady Chic Dining Rooms
And Dated Bathrooms
(Yep, wall paper on the cabinets)
Though a few warts does not break a house for us, there were also issues with the house layouts (like the master bedroom that didn't have wall space large enough to put a bed against due to the rooms width and bathroom, closet, and entrance doorways), kitchen sizes (super tiny or appliances floating on their own against far walls), and utter and complete lack of charm (White, sterile, no trim, etc. What is the point of buying a 80-100-year-old house if previous owners have removed any of the character from the time period it was built? It has all of the quirks and none of the charisma).
We began to get discourage. Maybe this whole idea was crazy. Maybe we should just stay in our apartment and put up with the little annoyances. Maybe the timing just isn't right. Who sells their house around Thanksgiving and Christmas? As we went out on our final night of house hunting until after the holidays, we took with us dwindling hopes of finding "our" house.
