1 Week Anniversary

Well we are moved and finally have TV and most importantly internet! Things are mostly unpacked, other than those pesky boxes of a jumble of things from different rooms that need to be sorted through and found homes. You know the ones I'm talking about. My clothes are a mess, but the new much smaller closet is going to mean a period of adjustment. My parents were in town this week spending some of the remaining days of their spring break working on our house. Jeff and I cannot thank them enough. We definitely owe them some labor up at the camp in the Adirondacks this summer!

Mom and Dad helped hang pictures and mirrors, towel bars, light fixtures, and most importantly replacing the powder room vanity top and faucet. It looks 10 times, no, 100 times better! We did let them out of the house for a little fun at the Genesee Brewery Beer Dinner. It was really, really, good! And we got the best view in the house!

We haven't taken a ton of pictures yet; we are waiting to truly be unpacked. I have some powder room pictures. The medicine cabinet and light fixture are next on the to do list!

First a reminder of the before in the bathroom. You can see in the picture below the vanity was the same color as the trim with hand-painted flower accents.

The sink and counter before.  I should have taken more pictures, but to give you an idea, the brown spot in the sink is one of several places where the porcelain in sink has been chipped away and the metal underneath is a rusty brown color because it is now exposed to water. The sink was literally rusting away. The faucet was stained and old. The counter top was a piece of laminate cut to fit, but without the trim edge, so you could see the board the laminate was made out of. The sink is off center and there is beige-pink paint on the count, back splash, and caulk around the edges.

A progress picture. There was a wall paper cement board behind the back splash to make the laminate counter top fit. Mom did a quick wall repair so our new counter top/sink combo had a smooth surface to edge it.

The final product! New brushed nickel faucet to match the new cabinet knobs, TP roll, and hand-towel ring!

It looks so good!!!! Yay! I have the best parents ever, so handy!

The living room is really coming together, books on shelves, art work hung, so here is a little before and after treat to send you off with! As always, more to follow!!!

Before: with the previous owners things
After: with our things and a few of the tired out workers.
